Who We Are

If you’re driving through the little town of Etowah NC, look up the hill at the western stop light and you’ll see two churches—the little one is Etowah Presbyterian Church.  We’ve been here for 128  years. We have always been small—but fruitful.  We call ourselves “The Church at the Crossroads.”  We worship every Sunday morning at 11:00.

We are at a crossroads ourselves.  We have a lovely location, a very pleasant church building and are relatively secure financially. We offer a moderate, mainline theology and traditional worship.  Our congregation is dedicated! We welcome the stranger and we still minister to many.  But we have been hammered by Covid and aging and we presently have less than 20 active members.

We have no plans to close our doors.  We believe we are serving God, and we believe God can use us.  We are looking for new ministry needs in Etowah and we believe if we are faithful in service, God will make use of us.  Of course we would joyfully welcome potential new members.  Come check us out if you are interested in doing God’s work. We have job openings!

Presbyterianism

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is distinctly a confessional and a connectional church, distinguished by the representation of elders — laymen and laywomen — in its government.

Presbyterians are distinctive in two major ways. They adhere to a pattern of religious thought known as Reformed theology and a form of government that stresses the active, representational leadership of both ministers and church members.
